Application process

What to expect when you apply for an open-application PBF grant.

We will typically have one open call for applications each year.

Each grant will have a specific objective, which will be clearly outlined on the application. The main goal of your program should address the mission of the grant. We do not consider applications that do not address the objectives of the specific grant.

Our commitment to a fair application process

Three stage application process

We recognize the great amount of time it takes for charities  to apply for grants and seek to minimize this by having a staged application process.

STAGE 1
Open application

TIMEFRAME: One month from announcement of grant, to application deadline.

The Preliminary application will allow us to see a brief overview of the organization and program. From there we will be able to select only those applications that align with the goals of our organization and the goals of the grant.

All applicants will be contacted within 1 month of the application deadline. Those who are selected will be asked to fill out a more detailed secondary application.

STAGE 2
Application by invitation

TIMEFRAME: Applicants have 3 weeks to complete the secondary application.

The secondary application will take a deeper dive into the details of the program and the organization, including achievements, goals, and getting to know the leadership team. Applicants will be asked to submit the organizations’ most recent financial statement, and supporting documents such as impact reports or testimonials (if available).

STAGE 3
Meeting

TIMEFRAME: Meeting dates are flexible. Request for meeting will be sent within 3 weeks of the secondary application deadline.

If we are seriously considering an application we will request a meeting to get to know the applicant and ask any remaining questions.  All meetings are 30 minutes long and will take place virtually - this ensures all candidates have the same process regardless of geographic location.
